Freedom of Information

All public authorities, including schools, are required under the Freedom of Information Act to adopt a publication scheme which has been approved by the Information Commissioner.

There is currently one approved model publication scheme which has been produced by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Schools must adopt the ICO's model scheme and make it pubically available.

ICO Model Publication Scheme

Our Publication Scheme, which is based on the ICO model is below:

1. Our Commitment

We adopt in full the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Model Publication Scheme and fulfil our duty under section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to proactively publish information. We will publish information in the classes below; keep it up to date; state the format and any charges; publish relevant datasets for re‑use where reasonably practicable; and make this scheme available to the public.

2. How to access our information

Most information is available on our website. If you cannot find what you need, please contact the School Office—we aim to provide information promptly and in accessible formats. Printed copies are available on request; we only charge reasonable disbursements (see Charges).

3. Classes of Information

In line with the ICO model scheme, we publish information under these seven classes. The tables show where to find it and whether a charge applies.

Class 1 – Who we are and what we do (organisational information, locations, contacts)
Examples: contact details; leadership and staffing structure; governing body names/roles; term dates; admissions arrangements; Instrument of Government; committee terms of reference. Where: website (About/Governance) or on request (PDF). Charge: free.

Class 2 – What we spend and how we spend it (financial information)
Examples: annual accounts/financial statements (as applicable); procurement and contracts over a threshold (redacted where necessary); charging & remissions policy; pupil premium strategy; PE and sport premium statement. Where: website (Policies/Finance) or on request. Charge: free.

Class 3 – What our priorities are and how we are doing (strategy & performance)
Examples: school improvement plan (summary); Ofsted reports & statutory performance links; equality objectives; accessibility plan. Where: website (Performance/Policies). Charge: free.

Class 4 – How we make decisions (decision‑making)
Examples: governing body part‑I minutes; admissions notices/criteria; outcomes of statutory consultations. Where: website / LA link / on request. Charge: free.

Class 5 – Our policies and procedures
Examples: safeguarding/child protection; behaviour; complaints; data protection & privacy notices; FOI policy; health & safety; curriculum and assessment information; records management/retention schedule. Where: website (Policies). Charge: free.

Class 6 – Lists and registers
Examples: asset register (summary); gifts & hospitality (where applicable); register of governors’ interests and attendance. Where: website (Governance) or on request (inspection/PDF). Charge: free.

Class 7 – The services we offer
Examples: curriculum & SEND information; clubs and wrap‑around care; school meals & uniform information; newsletters. Where: website. Charge: free.

Note: If we don't hold an item, we will mark it as "not held" in our internal index. This approach is consistent with other school-sector implementations of the ICO model scheme.

4. Information not covered

You can still request other recorded information we hold under FOIA or the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR). For personal data, please make a Subject Access Request under the UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018.

5. Datasets and re-use

Where we publish datasets, we will, where reasonably practicable, publish them in a re‑usable format and, where we own the copyright, make them available for re‑use under an appropriate licence (e.g., OGL or the licence terms referenced in FOIA s.19)

6. Charges

Website information is free. We may charge reasonable disbursements for:

  • Photocopying/printing at actual cost
  • Postage at Royal Mail standard rates
  • Media (e.g., USB) at cost if specifically requested

We will advise you of any charges before supplying information. (This reflects ICO guidance on charging under publication schemes.)

7. Contact and feedback

Contact the Freedom of Information Officer for further assistance.
