TEAA

A Trusted Emotionally Available Adult (TEAA) provides consistent, safe, and supportive relationships for children. The role is designed to ensure that every child has at least one adult in school they can turn to when they feel worried, upset, or need someone to listen.

For primary school children, having access to a TEAA can be life-changing. Children who face challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, social difficulties, or changes at home benefit from knowing there is someone in school who understands them and is available to provide guidance and reassurance. This consistent support helps children feel safe, valued, and connected.

The presence of a TEAA supports mental health by helping children manage emotions, cope with stress, and develop resilience. Regular, trusting interactions encourage self-expression and teach children strategies for handling challenges, both socially and emotionally. Over time, this relationship can increase self-esteem and confidence, allowing children to engage more positively in lessons, friendships, and school life.

By fostering a secure and nurturing connection, TEAAs play a vital role in promoting wellbeing and emotional growth. Children who feel supported in this way are better equipped to manage their feelings, form healthy relationships, and thrive both academically and personally.
