Day Trips and Residential
Class trips and residential visits offer primary school children unique opportunities to learn and grow outside the classroom. These experiences combine education, adventure, and social interaction, providing benefits that go far beyond traditional lessons. Class trips and residential visits nurture children’s emotional growth, resilience, and social skills, supporting their mental wellbeing while creating lasting memories and a positive attitude toward learning.
Class trips allow children to explore new environments, discover different cultures or natural settings, and engage with learning in hands-on, memorable ways. Residential visits, which often last several days, take this further by giving children the chance to live away from home in a supportive setting, developing independence and resilience.
Both types of experiences support mental health and wellbeing. Being in a new environment encourages children to step out of their comfort zones, boosting confidence as they try new activities and solve challenges. Socially, trips foster teamwork, communication, and friendship-building, helping children feel connected and supported by their peers. Experiencing shared adventures also creates a sense of belonging and achievement, which positively impacts self-esteem.
Additionally, time spent outdoors, exploring nature, or participating in physical activities reduces stress and promotes relaxation. Exposure to new experiences can spark curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning.
A variety of Day Trips are offered across the school. These vary from year to year, but some examples include
- Redwood
- Pizza Express
- Slimbridge Wetland Centre
- Westonbirt
- Caerleon
- Birmingham Symphony Hall
- London
- Sudley Castle
- Bishopswood
- Cotswold Water Park
