We Believe, Achieve and Celebrate
Times tables is a vital part of the maths curriculum. Without knowing all of the facts, off by heart and in any random order, the children will not be able to use them to access other areas of the maths curriculum. The National Curriculum states that all children know all facts up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4.
To raise the profile and add a bit of challenge and competition to the children’s learning, we have decided to hold our annual Maths Bee. Every child will take part in the class rounds and then we will come together as a school to hold the semi-finals and the finals.
There will be two different sections: Key Stage 1 – know all facts in the 1, 2, 5, 10s and Key Stage 2 – know ALL facts up to 12 x 12.
The class rounds will take place by the end of term 3 and the semi - finals will take place in the first week term 4, with the grand final taking place in week 2.
The winners of the Maths Bee will receive a medal and will have their name engraved on a trophy.
